The Concord Group Insurance Companies
Concord General Mutual Insurance Company
Originally named Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company, the company had become a multiple line insurer with services available to the general public (and not just members of the Farm Bureau Federation). This name gave the impression that only those with farm connections were eligible for insurance. In 1966, to establish an image more in keeping with the Company marketing methods and underwriting philosophy, the name was replaced with Concord General Mutual Insurance Company.
Green Mountain Insurance Company, Inc.
This multiple line stock company was acquired in 1970. Green Mountain Insurance Company, Inc., is domiciled in Vermont and licensed in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
State Mutual Insurance Company
In 1964, with a written premium of approximately $200,000 at the time, State Mutual Insurance Company was acquired in the state of Maine. In 1999, the Company was honored on its 100th anniversary with a Certificate of Recognition presented by the Maine Secretary of State, Dan A. Gwadosky.
Sunapee Mutual Fire Insurance Company
This New England mutual insurance company was established in 1855. The New Hampshire Insurance Commissioner's office approved a management arrangement between the Concord Group Insurance Companies and Sunapee Mutual Fire Insurance Company on July 17, 1982.
Vermont Accident Insurance Company, Inc.
Acquired in 1981, this Vermont domiciled company is licensed in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
